Jack-in-the-Box

"When an enemy is throwing punches, most people think that they should give the guy some distance. But it's just the opposite. You put your face in his chest and smother his power."
 Harlan Coben 'Long Lost'

That, my dears, is what I've done on two occassions. Not literally, though. It worked! Some people never quit, even when they've pushed you to the wall they want to hammer you into it. I sprang back like Jack-in-the-Box. I practically gleed with pride when I got the shocked reaction I'd expected.

You've got to do the same. Let out some steam, baby.

Gold Digger!

The topic 'gold diggers' has been the rave on fellow Nigerian blogs as of late. I've read it up in Bella Naija then in Sydelle and also in DHS. I seem to have diverse clashing opinions on the subject so I'll live it to these gurls to do the concluding.

But one thing I do know is that a man should take care of/ provide for  his household/family and that includes the woman in his life.

5 commandments to a blissful week

1. Quit comparing and contrasting:
Instead of comparing our lot with that of those who are more fortunate than we are, we should compare it with the lot of the great majority of our fellow men. It then appears that we are among the privileged.” Helen Keller. Everyone falls short in different areas of their lives. Your weakness might be someone else' strenght and vice versa. A boy of twenty will only be asking for cardic arrest when he compares himself with a man of fourty. It'll only be like “... comparing champagne with cognac. No-with Coca-Cola.” Maria Callas.

2. Have in mind, no problem lasts so long so enjoy the challenge:

Life isn't about living without problems.

Life is about solving problems.
” Tom Krause

3. Eliminate the people who create unnecessary stress in your life:

You know the friend who's never happy about your successes, the one who always has a sarcastic comeback, the one who always demands from you but never gives. The squashingly protective boyfriend who won't let you have friends ( if he leaves you who'll you fall back on). That annoying colleague who subtly uses you to do miscallenous chores....need I go on? You know them. Eliminate. They're not good for your health. An open foe may prove a curse, but a pretended friend is worse.” John Gay

4. Forget all others for a day each week and do all things for yourself:

A man is called selfish, not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor's” Richard Whately. So, you're not being selfish. You're just moving everybody's problems to other days for the sake of your health. For your own good, but you're not ignoring them. Relax, unwind, sleep, get a spa treatment, get a massage, read a book, sing. For today, do what makes you happy and if they love you they'd leave you alone so that you're better able to handle their woes.

5. Contact a good old friend:

You know that true friend who makes you happy. Call him/her. Go visit. Spend time chatting. Could be a sibling, a parent, a mentor, a pen pal or just a real friend. Ah, how good it feels! The hand of an old friend.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

    All the way from Taraba!

I travelled 6 hrs from "his" place in Taraba state to Enugu to meet with  my project supervisor. The trip was stressful and the road was dusty. God knows I'm sick of being in school. I'm yearning to start a new phase in my life. But right now school first.

I actually took this pix when I returned from school. And the supervisor was gone before I got there.I called him and he asked me to meet him on thursday....duh!

I heart this earring. I've had it for about a year now.

This is what the sandal looks like. I've been doing greens and blues on my nails since I saw keyshia cole wearing green nails in her 'trust' video.

    How I eat

I like to eat but my metabolism doesn't like it....I get bloated everytime I eat. I tried a lot of things from enemas to fasting, it didn't work for me. After using bisacodyl a couple of times my end starting getting lazy I freaked and stopped using it. I finally figured out something that works for me. What I do is I fill my plate but I don't eat everything at once. I eat some and after 3 hrs I microwave the rest and eat it. I do this for every meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner. I find that my meals digest faster this way. If I don't feel full after a meal I fill up with water, lots of it.

Also, within the non-eating 3 hrs I drink lots of water. I also find that the urge to snack or nibble something is curbed.

Checking to see how it looks

Ok, I'm from Nigeria and in Nigeria. If you follow this blog you should expect to see pictures of me, first, ;) then of people and places in Nigeria depending on where I go to or if I go anywhere anyway.

    Again, just checking.
